About Serenity Plus AFH
We are a small, licensed Adult Family Home in Puyallup, WA — founded on the belief that seniors deserve more than institutional care. They deserve a home.
Care That Begins with Knowing Your Name
Serenity Plus AFH was founded with a single conviction: that the way we care for our elders says everything about who we are as a community. Large facilities can offer amenities. We offer something harder to find — genuine, personal, unhurried attention from people who truly know each resident.
Our mission is to provide every resident with safe, compassionate, medically competent care in an environment that feels like home — because it is one. A real house, in a real neighborhood, with real relationships at its center.
We hold a license from Washington State DSHS, comply fully with all Adult Family Home regulations, and are regularly inspected to ensure our standards remain high. But inspection compliance is the floor, not the ceiling. We hold ourselves to a much higher standard — the one set by the families who trust us with the people they love most.
Our Core Values
These aren't words on a wall. They're the principles that guide every care decision, every conversation, and every ordinary moment in our home.
Dignity First
Every resident is a full human being with a history, preferences, and rights. We never reduce a person to their diagnosis or their care needs. Dignity is non-negotiable in every interaction, every day.
Clinical Excellence
Warmth without competence isn't enough. Our caregivers are trained, certified, and continuously educated. We meet and exceed all Washington State DSHS requirements for caregiver qualifications.
Radical Transparency
Families are partners, not visitors. We communicate proactively — when something is good and when something is concerning. No family should ever feel out of the loop about their loved one's care.
Intentional Smallness
Our six-resident limit is a deliberate choice, not a constraint. Smallness is the mechanism through which everything else — the personal attention, the consistency, the relationships — becomes possible.
Holistic Wellbeing
We care for the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Physical health, emotional health, social connection, and personal meaning all receive equal attention in how we design each resident's day.
Cultural Respect
We serve residents from diverse backgrounds and actively honor the cultural practices, food preferences, language needs, and spiritual traditions that shape who each person is.
Meet Our Care Team
Every person in this home is here because they chose this work — not because it was convenient, but because it matters to them.

How We Got Here
Serenity Plus AFH grew out of a personal frustration with what the senior care industry accepts as normal — and a belief that it could be done better, in a home that genuinely feels like one.
A Vision for Better Care
Founded by individuals who experienced firsthand the limitations of large care facilities for their own family members. The decision to build something different was personal before it was professional.
Washington State DSHS Licensed
Serenity Plus AFH receives its Adult Family Home license from Washington State DSHS, meeting all requirements for caregiver training, home safety, and resident rights.
Opening Our Doors
Our first residents move in. The care philosophy we built on paper becomes real — through daily routines, relationships, and the small moments that define a good life.
Growing Through Reputation
Our growth has come entirely through family referrals and community trust — the only metric we care about. We continue to refine, improve, and invest in the quality of every resident's experience.
What Families Can Count On
We make these commitments to every resident and every family from day one — not as marketing language, but as the actual standards we hold ourselves accountable to.
- A written, individualized care plan reviewed regularly and updated as needs change
- Prompt communication whenever a resident's health status changes — no delays, no summaries at month's end
- Open visiting hours — families are welcome any time within posted visiting hours
- Full respect for resident rights as defined by Washington State law and our own higher standards
- A physical environment that is clean, safe, comfortable, and genuinely homelike
- Honest conversations about what we can and cannot provide — we will always tell you the truth
- Grievance procedures that are real and accessible — complaints are taken seriously, not managed away
