Movement Is Medicine
For older adults, regular movement — even gentle movement — reduces fall risk, slows cognitive decline, improves mood, and supports better sleep and digestion. At Serenity Plus AFH, physical activity and stimulating daily activities are woven into every resident's routine, calibrated to their individual ability and adjusted as needs evolve.
We don't run group fitness classes designed for the most capable resident in the room. We design movement and activity for the individual — which means a resident with significant mobility limitations gets the same intentional, engaged approach as a more active resident.
Daily Activity Program
Gentle Mobility & Stretching
Daily morning and afternoon movement routines — seated or standing, depending on ability — to maintain joint flexibility and circulation.
Walking & Outdoor Time
Weather-permitting outdoor time in our safe yard and neighborhood surroundings. Fresh air and natural light have measurable health benefits.
Recreational Activities
Card games, board games, puzzles, music, light crafts, gardening, and other activities chosen around each resident's interests and cognitive level.
Music & Memory
Music from each resident's era is incorporated into daily activities — proven to reduce agitation and improve mood, particularly in residents with dementia.
Balance & Fall Prevention
Targeted balance exercises, fall-risk assessments, and environmental modifications work together to minimize falls — one of the leading causes of senior hospitalization.
Therapy Coordination
We coordinate with visiting physical, occupational, and speech therapists and reinforce their programs between sessions.
Activity plans are written into each resident's individual care plan and reviewed regularly as their health and abilities change.
